DAILIES: SAY IT WITH
YOUR EYES!
"a frequent reason of inflammation with  itching eyes and sneezing"
  • A TYPICAL SYMPTOM WITH ALLERGIE IS SNEEZING

  • ALLERGIES HAVE MORE SYMPTOMS THAN SNEEZING ALONE: IRRITATED EYES, NOSE, THROAT AND AIRWAYS

  • CAUSE: CONTACT WITH MATERIALS YOU CAN'T BEAR - ESPECIALLY VIA MUCOUS MEMBRANES

  • THE TRETMENT IS TRIPTYCH: AVOID CONTACT / MEDICATION / VACCINATION

ALLERGY

WHAT IS AN ALLERGY?

Allergy is an excessive reaction of your own immune system (caused by histamine release, witch gives the typical itching reaction) against a substance that you have been in contact with previously.
So, you are not born with allergies, but you can get an allergy during your life (you usually get hay fever between the ages of 8 to 20 years). Genetics are very important: If one of your parents is allergic, you have 30% chance to be allergic too (otherwise 20%).
Pollution activate allergic factors!

TYPES OF ALLERGY

- HAT FEVER

This is actually a wrong name, because this allergy isn't caused by hay, but by anther dust ("pollenosis") of trees and grasses (rather than through flowers!).
Pollenosis are invisible small granules (5 / 1000 of 1 mm), which are dispersed by the wind.
From a certain amount of pollenosis the sensitivity can arise in people.
Typical symptoms of hay fever are: itching of the eyes and nose, frequent sneezing, nasal congestion, headaches, possibly asthmatic
attacks.
The critical period for hay fever ranges from March to October, with a peak from early May to late July.
In the mountains ther's a delay of one month.
Heat, drought and wind have a worsening effect,("bad weather for hay fever sufferers").

- DUST ALLERGY

Identical reactions as hay fever, throughout the whole year, should given thought of house dust allergies (especially allergy to the excrement of dust mites, a microscopic little spider who occurs mainly in bed. Most of the burden is therefore  at nights and in
the morning).

- The PROFESSIONAL PERSUITS may be the cause: flour dust at the bakery, pet hair from the farmer (cats / dogs ... less by poultry and birds) / hairdressers etc.

 PREVENTION

 AA  BY HAY FEVER:

 - No lawn mowing and no picnic in the sensitive period.
- Rather take a holiday at the beach, than a holiday in forested areas. Swimming is the best sport.
- In the sensitive period, don't throw open the windows (even not in the car). If you want to ventilate the room, do the best in the morning because then the pollenosis concentration is lowest.
- Do not smoke because it stimulates the symptoms.

IN HOUSE DUST ALLERGY

-The bedroom is the main cause of dust: a good ventilation of the bed. Wait a few hours before making your bed (the dust mite is slightly shy). 1-once a week the mattress needs to be vacuumed and pillows and blankets needs to be shake out.

Remove carpets + teddy bears.
- Vinyl  or parket flooring is better than carpeting.
- Often vacuuming (although the dust is blowing up).
- Hang out the bedding for several hours in the freezing cold to kill the dust mites.
- In the bedroom, the walls are best painted rather than papered. Dust mites likes wallpaper.

MEDICATION

 TREATMENT BY A FIRST ATTACK

Cure the present infection with potent anti-inflammatory drugs, which resemble cortisone (P Predmycin Maxitrol drops and ointment) and "antihistamines" (Zyrtec tablets especially useful when sneezing).

 MAINTAJBLMJKDF
MAINTENANCE TREATMENT

Histamine release can occur with cell stabilizers (eg Optichrom or Livostin eyedrops (PS: Voltaren or Pranox is quite similar but will be refunded (if prescription) or Zaditen tablets - Allergodyl is better for itching), and so throughout the sensitive period (possibly
during the peak sensitivity to trace messages through the hay fever - may also be started next year preventive (from March)). If you protect yourself before the sensitive period starts, you can sometimes prevent your symptoms.

BY FLARES

Spite maintenance, you can use now and then a powerfull anti-inflammatory extra (eg Maxitrol eye ointment at night - ointment remains relatively good long!).
By dust allergy preventive medication must be taken throughout the year. Luckily, that medication has a few side effects. By hay fever it's best to follow the weather (hot = dry weather, with wind is bad!). Diagnose can be obtained by skin testing, which can from the age of 10 years / blood test from 2 years. Vaccination may be tried. However, since this requires several years and is not as effective, this is only done if the medication does not help.
